Presence Health

Welcome to the Presence Resurrection Emergency Medicine Residency. The Residency is an ACGME-accredited PGY 1-3 Program in Chicago, training 39 Emergency Medicine residents.

Our mission is to train superb Emergency Physicians who are prepared for the clinical, academic and administrative challenges facing Emergency Physicians in the 21st Century. This Residency provides a dedicated, 100% residency trained and board certified faculty with diverse interests in all areas of the specialty.  Three fellowships, Ultrasound, Sports Medicine, and Palliative Care, are offered at Presence Resurrection Medical Center.

The residents encounter a unique and diverse patient population through their various rotations. Our combined Emergency Department experiences exceed 130,000 patient encounters, with plenty of exposure to trauma, pediatrics, and critically ill patients. There is an abundant opportunity for procedures and resuscitations for residents at all levels of training.  The Residency’s philosophy is earned autonomy more than graded responsibility.

Our residents take an active role in all aspects of the Residency, including clinical teaching, lecture presentations, and research production. Faculty and residents are evaluated after each shift.  Resident feedback is critical to maintaining an outstanding experience. Wellness is critical to the success of all Emergency Physicians.  We here at Presence Resurrection are committed to providing the residents with all of the necessary resources to lead healthy and successful professional lives.

The Emergency Department is where clinical acumen develops; where camaraderie and long lasting peer relationships are built. It is where we are intellectually and physically challenged. It is where we have patient encounters that impact us for the rest of our lives.  Also, it is where we face disease processes we may fear, and conquer that fear to become excellent clinicians and diagnosticians.

The cornerstone for success in Emergency Medicine is obtaining the knowledge, comfort, and expertise to practice in this field.  There is lifelong learning.  Residency is just the beginning of this journey.
