Level II Trauma Center
Our designation by the State of Illinois means we’re equipped to handle all types of critical illnesses and injuries. In fact, most of emergency nurses are trauma-certified specialists who participate in ongoing training to strengthen their skills. We offer anytime access to general surgeons, plus on-site coverage by specialists in orthopedics, neurosurgery, radiology and more. And we serve as the 24-hour Poison Control Center for Kankakee County.

Our proven protocols allow physicians to reduce time to treatment and manage their symptoms to help avoid lengthy and costly hospitalization.
Specialized Care for Our Youngest Patients
Having to take your child for emergency care is a scary prospect, but you can find comfort and confidence knowing we’re Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics by the State of Illinois. This distinction recognizes our ability to provide the highest level of emergency care to infants and children—we even have a dedicated trauma room for our pediatric patients with specially trained nurses.
SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program

In fact, we’re the only hospital in Kankakee,Iroquois, Ford and Will Counties with certified SANE staff, including forensic nurses who respond to trauma, gather evidence, treat STDs, evaluate pregnancies and provide expert witness testimony. We also work closely with organizations such as the Kankakee County Center Against Sexual Assault (KC-CASA) and the Child Advocacy Center to provide specialized care and healing for these patients.
