How to Get Started

Please fill out a Volunteer Interest Form & return to the Volunteer Services Department in person or by email to Megan.Vinson@amitahealth.org.  If we find that your volunteer interests match our needs, we will call you to schedule an interview & registration appointment.  We will keep your form on file for 3 months.

General Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers are required to complete necessary registration paperwork, two letters of recommendation, an interview and an orientation session prior to starting service at the Medical Center.  All volunteers will need approval of their primary care physician to volunteer as well as two TB skin tests (performed free of charge by Associate Health Services upon starting service).

In addition, all adult volunteers (18 years & older) will need to complete a request for a criminal background check. Teen volunteers (under 18 years) will need to present a completed parental consent form prior to orientation.

Teen Volunteers

High school students can begin volunteering at the age of 15.  Click here for information on our Prep U Program for teens.

During the summer months, our Student Ambassador volunteer program is also available to those students who are interested in health care careers and have a proven academic record (minimum 3.60/4.00 GPA).  Applications for this special program are available each year on April 1st.  Please email Megan.Vinson@amitahealth.org for an application on April 1st.  Ambassador spots are very limited and first come, first serve to those that meet the requirements.
