If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Level II Trauma Center
Our designation by the Illinois Department of Public Health means we’re equipped to handle all types of critical illnesses and injuries. That includes i-STAT® technology for rapid, point-of-care blood work, and 24-hour immediate access to trauma surgeons and specialists in emergency medicine, orthopedics, radiology and more.
Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center
Presence Mercy Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in Illinois—and the first in Kane County—to be accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). This distinction recognizes the skill and speed of our physicians in responding to heart attacks and other cardiac emergencies in their critical early stages—greatly improving outcomes. We’re also able to better monitor patients when it’s unclear if they’re experiencing a coronary event, which ensures they’re neither sent home too early nor needlessly admitted.
Advanced Primary Stroke Center
Should stroke strike, you can count on care that’s been recognized by The Joint Commission for significantly improving patient outcomes. Presence Mercy’s multidisciplinary approach includes our “S.T.A.R.” (Stroke Team Advances Recovery) program—an enhanced communication system that optimizes care while patients are in the hospital, and prepares them and their families for life after discharge. We also offer a Telestroke program, which links our emergency team via video to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet for immediate assessment by a neurosurgeon.
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)
We’re proud to be recognized by the Illinois Department of Public Health for our commitment to providing highly specialized emergency care for our most precious patients. All staff are Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) - or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course-certified. And we have 24/7 on-site access to physicians from Lurie Children’s Hospital.
On-site Express Care
For non-life threatening conditions that need immediate care, we offer Fast Track services right in our ER. Hours are 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. No appointments necessary.
Presence Health has always provided care to patients regardless of their ability to pay. If you need emergency services but lack the means to pay, please ask about our patient financial assistance program, uninsured discount policy and other options that may be available to you.
