Advanced High-Definition Technology

High-definition television (HDTV) is making its way from the living room to the hospital room. Presence Holy Family Medical Center is among the first hospitals to use the Evis Exera II, high definition endoscopic technology that helps doctors diagnose diseases in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women combined in the U.S.

Compared to conventional systems, high-definition endoscopy, combined with Narrow Band Imaging™, provides doctors with sharper images and better contrast, which in turn may help them to better detect lesions during examinations when using the wide-angle colonoscope. As a result, patients may receive more accurate diagnoses. The new system can also shorten procedure times for patients.

Advanced Care for Digestive Health

Designed exclusively for digestive health procedures, our renovated GI Lab incorporates the most advanced technology in a comfortable, private and convenient setting. Knowledgeable and sensitive, our highly trained teams of gastroenterology specialists provide a full range of procedures to diagnose and treat digestive diseases such as colon cancer, ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). If a problem is diagnosed, we have full resources for follow-up care?whether more testing is required or whether treatment from another specialist is needed.

Safe, effective and efficient care is our top priority. We use a state-of-the-art sterilization process to insure the highest standard of safety.

When Comfort Counts Most

Our beautifully remodeled GI Lab provides a warm and inviting atmosphere that helps to comfort our patients, easing the anxiety commonly experienced in advance of GI procedures. Waiting areas are large and airy and individual suites bring more privacy for patients and their family members.

If you need a GI procedure, you’ll find the process simple and convenient. All aspects of your visit?registration, prep, procedure and recovery?are located within easy access of each other. Throughout the procedure, which generally takes about 30 minutes, vital signs are continually monitored. Afterwards, patients can relax in the soothing environment until they feel ready to go home.
