Dr. Gilman Honored With Gathering and Room Naming
On August 16, 2018, Presence Saint Joseph Hospital Chicago honored the career of Alan David Gilman, MD. Dr. Gilman is an oncology and hematology specialist, who has been with the ministry for more than 30 years. He is not only an esteemed physician, providing excellent care to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital patients, but also a committed philanthropist to our mission.
Following a significant gift made by a grateful patient, Presence Saint Joseph Hospital named a conference room in Dr. Gilman’s honor. The Alan David Gilman, MD, Conference Room is located on the fifth floor of the Presence Center for Advanced Care, a building Dr. Gilman personally supported with a generous gift in 2014.
At a gathering to celebrate the naming, Dr. Gilman addressed the room filled with patients, colleagues, family, friends and spoke to the importance of philanthropy at a community hospital. “I love Saint Joe’s, and I want you to love it too.” He announced he and his wife Zora, and children Sarah and Adam would be making a significant gift to support cancer care. His gift inspired several others to follow his lead, making their own gifts of support.
We are grateful to Dr. Gilman for his leadership and generosity. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in helping to save the lives of many and providing great support to his patients—going beyond simple care at the bedside. Physicians such as Dr. Gilman are the hallmark of excellence. We are proud and honored to have a physician who provides excellent care to the community we serve while upholding our mission, vision and values.
