Is It an Emergency? When to Visit the ER

Emergency care is usually reserved for severe, life-threatening conditions, including:

  • Bleeding that won't stop
  • Chest or upper abdominal pain or pressure
  • Confusion or change in mental status
  • Coughing up or vomiting blood
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Fainting
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Sudden dizziness, weakness or change in vision
  • Sudden, severe pain
  • Suicidal or homicidal feelings

For minor illnesses and injuries, like ear infections, allergies or mild sprains and strains, we offer convenient urgent care clinics throughout Chicago.
