Proviso Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a safe and child friendly environment for children and adolescents that are involved in investigations of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, and other forms of child maltreatment. Proviso CAC provides forensic interviewing and advocacy services to residents living in the 4th Municipal District of Cook County and support services and community education to those living in the surrounding western suburbs of Cook County.
The mission of the Proviso Children’s Advocacy Center is to provide a victim centered and professionally skilled response to allegations of abuse toward children and adolescents. This is accomplished through a victim-centered, multi-disciplinary team response to allegations of child abuse, a response that coordinates efforts of local law enforcement, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and local medical and mental health professionals to work on behalf of the victim to seek justice and ensure the child and family receives the necessary support to stabilize and heal from the abuse.
All services are provided to families free of charge thanks to funding from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, National Children’s Alliance, local mental health boards, and individual donors.
