August 6, 2015, Kankakee, IL …… Twenty-six students were honored on Wednesday, August 5 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital for their successful completion of the 2014-2015 Paramedic Program.
The Paramedic Program began last August in partnership with Kankakee Community College. This is one of the first hybrid programs in the state of Illinois and the first for this region. A hybrid format means there is a mix of materials and methods used for teaching. The students complete over 1000 hours of course work both in the classroom and online, earning them 45 college credit hours. The bulk of the review, quizzes and tests are online which saves class time for practical and other hands on activities.
“We are excited to bring this program to Kankakee County,” said Presence St. Mary’s EMS Coordinator, Dave Nagel. “This is not only a great benefit to Presence St. Mary’s Hospital, but the entire region will benefit from this type of well-rounded education.”
There are a very limited number of spots available for the 2015-16 Paramedic Program beginning on August 17. For more information on the program or to register, please call the Presence St. Mary’s Hospital EMS office at 815.937.2104 or visit our website at www.presencehealth.org/stmarys-kankakee.
