Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center (PSJMC) is bringing a unique center to Romeoville that will be dedicated to delivering an exceptional healthcare experience for seniors, while providing access to advanced imaging, lab and immediate care for local families.  The project is an expansion of the hospital’s ongoing outpatient care services throughout the region.

Area leaders and project partners gathered at the official groundbreaking ceremony last week for the Presence Senior Health Pavilion and Family Immediate Care Center in Romeoville.  Located on Weber Road and Airport Road, the Center is set to be a 28,000 square-foot outpatient medical facility designed to provide an unparalleled patient experience customized to seniors, their busy caregivers and families in the greater Romeoville community.

“The Village of Romeoville is truly excited to welcome Presence Health,” said Mayor John Noak.  “The Presence Saint Joseph team worked first to discover the needs of our community, and then set out to create a center expressly designed to address those needs.   I think that says a lot about the character of the organization and their commitment to patient care.”

The first and only one of its kind in the region, the new facility will offer an Immediate Care Center (ICC), full-service laboratory, advanced imaging including CT scan, bone density, and mammography, and MRI services will be available in the future.  The ICC will have dedicated rooms for seniors in addition to being open for families.  The Presence Senior Health Pavilion will also provide enhanced physical therapy with plans for a fitness center in the summer of 2016.  All of these services will be available to the general public.

“We’ve had an incredibly warm and enthusiastic welcome by the Village of Romeoville and Mayor Noak who share our vision of improving community health, especially for a vulnerable population like seniors,” said Kathleen Rhine, President and CEO, Presence Health South Suburban Region.  “I appreciate Mayor Noak’s comments because they reflect the heart of what Presence Health is all about–advancing care in ways that our innovative and better.”

The Center will be home to the region’s only fellowship-trained, board-certified Geriatricians, Bhavesh Gandhi, MD, Marc Kantar, MD, and Yaquta Patni, MD, along with Geriatric Nurse Practitioners and a team of rotating specialists dedicated to treating the elder population, including orthopedists and podiatrists.  Dr. Gandhi and his team are already providing a wide range of geriatric services at several facilities throughout the area.  The new building will create a one-stop-shop improving patient care and accessibility.

“My goal is to deliver excellent, comprehensive and efficient care to our patients,” said Dr. Gandhi. ”This is an outstanding opportunity to create a state-of-the-art medical facility where most health needs are conveniently and expertly addressed.”

Additional benefits to the community will include wellness activities specially designed for seniors, medical resources for patients and caregivers, community education events and meeting space, a café offering healthy food options, and much more.  The new Center represents an $11 million investment by Presence Health in the Romeoville community and is scheduled to open in August 2016.  The project is being built in partnership with Hammes Company.

Projects such as the Senior Health Pavilion and Family Immediate Care Center are a critical part of Presence Health’s strategic growth plan with significant efforts in delivering ambulatory care.  Rhine added, “The community centers are often more convenient and cost effective for the patient and their families than traditional settings.”
