Presence Heritage Village Awarded Nursing Care Center Accreditation from The Joint Commission
December 16, 2016 (Kankakee, Ill.) – Today, Presence Heritage Village, 901 North Entrance Ave., Kankakee, announced it has again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Nursing Care Center Accreditation. The Gold Seal of Approval® recognizes Presence Heritage Village’s demonstration of continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s performance standards to provide safe and effective patient and resident care. In addition, for the first time Presence Heritage Village received The Joint Commission’s Post-Acute Care certification. This additional recognition is given to nursing centers that provide effective care transitions with the goal of minimizing the risk of unnecessary hospitalizations.
During early December, Presence Heritage Village underwent a rigorous on-site survey by Joint Commission expert surveyors. The surveyors evaluated compliance with nursing care center standards related to several areas including assistance with activities of daily living, coordination of care and staff education and training. On-site observations and interviews with Presence Heritage leaders and staff were also conducted by surveyors.
Established in 1966, The Joint Commission’s Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program accredits more than 1,000 organizations that offer nursing home and other long term care services.
“Joint Commission accreditation provides nursing homes with a framework for the processes needed to improve the care patients and residents receive,” said Gina Zimmermann, MS, Executive Director, Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. “We commend Presence Heritage Village for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization.”
"Presence Heritage Village is pleased to once again receive accreditation from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” commented Presence Heritage Village interim administrator Michael Florczak.
“Achieving Joint Commission accreditation, for our organization, is a major step toward improving the compassionate care we provide in the communities we serve. This nationally known accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level, thereby creating and sustaining a culture of excellence,” said Presence Life Connections President and CEO Joseph Hugar.
